Learn About Us
At Cana, our doors are wide open to people of all backgrounds.
We invite you to experience our difference. Cana values inclusivity, questions, and community engagement. We are committed to listening to God and seek to cultivate environment in which all voices are heard and respected. Moving forward Cana seeks to celebrate the people who are already engaged in our congregation and value the gifts, insights, and passions of our neighbors.
Our Core Values:
Prayer
God desires us to be a part of a growing relationship, and prayer is the foundation of that relationship. Prayer involves two-way communication; sharing our honest thoughts and feelings with God, and listening for God to speak to us. God speaks to us in His Word, and prayer becomes an integral part of our daily communication with God. (Luke 11:1-13; Matthew 5:33)
Welcoming
Welcoming reflects a climate of grace and love. Together we are building a community that is friendly, helpful, safe, and encouraging. Through our actions and words, people will feel invited and welcomed into the Body of Christ. (Acts 2:42, 46-47, Romans 12:15-18, Romans 14:1, Matthew 25:34-36, Luke 19:5-6)
Worship
We worship God to honor, praise, and thank God for the merciful love given to all, and to receive the good news of Jesus in Word & Sacrament. Through spirited worship in all its forms, we are strengthened, challenged, and renewed for God’s service in the world. (John 4:23-24; Psalm 95:1-2; Psalm 149 & 150)
Learning
We are committed to deepening our faith and understanding through life-long learning in the study of God’s Word and world. We will provide creative learning opportunities that fit the faith development stages of our community. (Mark 8:34; Col. 3:15-16; John 14:25-26; Acts 2: 42-47; 1Cor.12:1-11)
Serving
We seek to freely give of ourselves in service to others in ways that demonstrate God’s love. When we are able to put others before ourselves, we share by example the wonderful power of love and grace that God has given through Jesus Christ. (Matthew 5,6,7, John 13:14-15; Luke 13:10-13, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
Relationships
God reaches out to form a relationship with us; therefore, we continue to build respectful, honest, and caring relationships with all people. We will engage in activities with each other, with other faith groups and in community events. (Genesis 1:27, Mark 12:28-31, John 13:34-35, Acts 2:42, Luke 6:12-16, Ephesians 1:3-6)
Generosity
God blesses us freely, graciously and without measure; therefore, we will be generous with our time, talent, and treasure that God has entrusted to us. It is truly more blessed to give than to receive. (Proverbs 11:25, Matthew 6:19-21, Matthew 10:8, Psalm 104:24, 2Corinthians 8:2-9)
